After reading the transcript of a Q&A Bannon did that Buzzfeed says was “beamed into a small conference room in a 15th-century marble palace in a secluded corner of the Vatican”, it became clear to me just why it is that Liberals and the media wing of their conspiracy to radicalize otherwise-mainstream American culture and ideals… and just why it is that they have been setting themselves on fire over Bannon’s ascendancy to a position of power: He is right and they know he is and they don’t have the courage to admit it. Not even to themselves.
Now… I am no theologian, to be sure, but having read the Bible a couple times makes it pretty easy for me to “get” his point about how and why our country and our culture have gone to hell in recent decades: Godlessness and Liberalism (my words, his innuendo).
In Bannon’s opening remarks he alluded to the assassination of Archduke Franz Ferdinand and suggested that the assassination kicked off what would be remembered as the “bloodiest century in mankind’s history”. He went on to suggest that Capitalism… the old-school, WW2 version of it (not this modern-day abomination)… is at the heart of what started to get us out of it.
But he adds that we are now in a crisis:
That capitalism really generated tremendous wealth. And that wealth was really distributed among a middle class, a rising middle class, people who come from really working-class environments and created what we really call a Pax Americana. It was many, many years and decades of peace. And I believe we’ve come partly offtrack in the years since the fall of the Soviet Union and we’re starting now in the 21st century, which I believe, strongly, is a crisis both of our church, a crisis of our faith, a crisis of the West, a crisis of capitalism.
It doesn’t take a rocket scientist nor a master historian to sort out where and when things started to go wrong: The first wave of
the 60’s Liberals baby boomers started getting elected into the American political food chain.
How ever inconvenient a truth it might be for Liberalism to face, this country stands atop a foundation built by the hands of men and women descended from thousands of years of Judeo-Christian values and principles and beliefs. They didn’t come here to build everything their homeland was NOT… they came here to build everything their homeland could have been if they’d had the freedoms and liberties to get it done. At a fundamental level in a Judeo-Christian reality, there is a God… and every aspect of daily life is conjoined to fostering and developing that relationship with Him.
It’s ok with Judeo-Cristians that some folks don’t share their values and beliefs… they are a forgiving sort… but don’t expect them to cast aside thousands of years of history just because you think what you are doing is new and cool and “enlightened… they know better.
And no amount of anti-religion or anti-God hate speech is ever going to undermine or displace believers’ relationship wit their God. Further… no amount of name calling such as “racist” or “bigot” or fill-in-the-blank-“o-phobe” is going to convert religious believers to Liberalism’s world view. It is their unwillingness to find productive common ground with non-Liberals that is at the heart of why they find themselves, now, facing at least four years of losing ground on their aggressive agenda to foment hate and vitriol amongst the ranks of those with whom they disagree… and the reality is that they have no one else to blame for it – how ever hard they will surely try – but themselves.
Liberalism, ultimately, is what got Trump elected… the resounding rejection of it by American Judeo-Christians at least.
As entertaining and deliciously ironic as their histrionics these days might be, all of humanity would benefit greatly if only Liberals could learn to #bebetterpeople … but that seems unlikely until they figure out that the whole of the human experience is infinitely larger and dramatically more significant than the microscopic little piece of it they have laid claim to.[Cross-posted @ Joe for America] [Images courtest CNN, NY Post ]
